Case Study:
Solano County, California
Background
Solano County operates three court facilities within the county including: The Hall of Justice, at 600 Union Ave. in Fairfield; the Justice Center at 530 Union Ave. Fairfield; and the Solano Justice Building at 321 Tuolumne St., Vallejo. With 24 judicial officers and a staff of 270, it is the unified trial court of both general and limited jurisdiction in the county. The court processes between 700-and 1,200 cases on a daily basis.
Project Scope
In order to effectively process the caseload in a diverse population, Infax, Inc. was hired to create a custom, multi-lingual version of docketCall, its electronic docket display system. The software displays way-finding information in English, Spanish and Tagalog. In 2009, Infax installed a five screen system for the county, with one display in each of the smaller facilities and a three-display system in the Hall of Justice building.
Software Integration
The county chose to supply its own server for the product and pushes the data once a day. Court personnel can modify any last-minute changes to the data via a web-based browser as needed. The system was set up so that Infax can give real time support to the court in case any problems arise. The data is coming from their court management software which is used universally throughout California.
